Cancer: Cells out of Control

When cells become old they die. If cells kept dying without reproduction we wouldn’t have a body. The process of dividing and multiplying is usually orderly and in control, but when this process goes wrong cancer occurs

The cells turn into cancer cells when DNA mutates, changing the normal growth and division of cells. This process of mutation can either be from genetics or from your lifestyle.

There are many types of cancer. Cancer cells in the blood spread quicker than cancer cell in the lungs, but even though cancer spreads faster though the blood, lung cancer is more dangerous.

Unlike normal cells, cancer cells do not die. Cancer cells make more damaged copies of themselves very fast. The sped up reproduction results in large clumps of cells. These clumps are called tumors. These masses of cells can grow so big that they disturb nearby tissues and muscles.

FUN FACT: There are cancer detecting dogs that can smell early stages of cancer on the human breath. This could be a lifesaver for many people.
